The reaction time of a whitetail is amazing.  We’ve all missed a time or two and blamed the deer for jumping the string.  Here is an example.  This is a young doe.   I’m shooting a Mathews Z7 at 270 fps.  The shot is exactly 30 yards, or 90 feet.  So the doe has exactly 1/3 of a second from the time I release the arrow until the arrow gets to her.  She is head down feeding, not on alert. I am aiming at her front right shoulder, after the arrow is released she does a full 180 and I hit her on the left rear on the opposite side of her body.  And she did it in less than 1/3 of a second from a dead stop and not being on alert.

Watch this.  It will run a couple times in slow motion.
